9/29/14 - Blan Lady Cats JV Soccer lose to Batavia
The Blanchester Lady Cats JV soccer team came up short in a tense nail biter against the Batavia Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The game was a back and forth affair in the first half as both teams struggled to crack their opponents stingy defense. Defender Savana Greene played a tough defensive half to help keep the Bulldogs at bay. In the second half the Bulldogs took the lead with a long shot roughly ten minutes into the second half. Blan regrouped in the final ten minutes and began to apply pressure offensively and a close shot at an open net sailed just wide in the final minutes of the game. In the second half defender Brynne Cain played well and forward Sunniva Vinja Tetlie used her dangerous speed to take several strong attempts at goal. Merri Lindsey had 2 saves in goal in the first half while Paris Friason added 7 saves in the second half. The Lady Cats JV teams record stands at 1-4.
9/27/14 - Wilmington defeats Blan JV girls
The Blanchester Lady Cats JV soccer team lost to the Wilmington Hurricanes by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday night. The game featured a very evenly matched first half, with Blan striking first with a Bekah Sams goal as she outraced the defense to beat the defense off of a sliding shot. Moments later, however, the Hurricanes bounced back with a goal of their own to even up the score at 1-1, which stayed that way until halftime. In the second half, Wilmington began finding better scoring chances and added their second and deciding goal, as they held on while the Cats had several more chances at goal that they could not convert. Merri Lindsey had 2 saves for the Cats and Paris Friason added 4 saves in the second half. Cats midfielders Lauren Erwin and Cassidy Todd had strong games for the Cats. The Lady Cats fall to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
9/22/13 - Norwood tops Blanchester Girls JV soccer
The Blanchester Lady Cars JV girls soccer team lost to Norwood by a score of 7-1. The first half of the game was all Norwood, as they took advantage of defensive miscues to put in 6 goals on the first half. Blanchester came out of the second half a different team and gained the upper hand in time of possession, but were only able to net one goal. Lauren Whitinger put in the lone goal for the Cats by scoring off of a long shot after a steal forced by Blan forward Sunniva Vinja Tetlie. Although Blan was unable to score more, in the second half Blan turned the good play from Mckenzie Miller, Lauren Erwin and Tetlie into many good passing plays and 15 shots on goal in the half. Merri Lindsey had 6 saves while Paris Friason added 6 as well. The JV Lady Cats fall to a record of 1-2 on the season.
9/3/14 - Lady Cats JV Soccer defeats Clinton Massie
The Blanchester Wildcats JV girls soccer team defeated the Clinton Massie Falcons Wednesday night by a score of 2-0. The matchup featured two evenly matched teams who battled it out in a close affair, but it was Blanchester that made the most of their scoring chances to come away with the victory. Sophomore Sydney Scott started the scoring off with a long range shot from the right corner of the field to give the Lady Cats a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The game went to half with the score 1-0, and it was Scott who led the attack for the Cats again in the second half as she created a scoring chance for a teammate with a nice through ball for an assist, and sophomore Lauren Whitinger was on the receiving end of the pass and beat the keeper for the goal. Two goalies combined for the shutout for Blanchester, Merri Lindsey had 4 saves in the first half and Paris Friason had 4 saves in the second half. Also standing out for the Lady Cats was Brynne Cain on defense and Mckenzie Miller in the midfield.
