8/20/13 - Blanchester JV Girls Soccer Tops Little Miami in Season Opener
The Blanchester Lady Cats JV soccer team took on Little Miami for the Lady Cats home opener of the 2013 season. The Lady Cats came away with a 1-0 victory after two halves of extremely competitive soccer by both teams. The first half saw the Cats and Panthers take several great shots at goal that were all turned away by the keepers who both had great games in goal. Freshmen Chloe Caplinger starred in goal for the Lady Cats and had 10 saves in a shutout effort. During the second half, freshmen McKenzie Miller punched in the Lady Cats lone goal with 21 minutes remaining in the game. Blanchester had a late scare after the Panthers were awarded a penalty kick for a tripping violation in the box with just over ten minutes left in the game. Caplinger made a brilliant save on the penalty kick to keep the shutout intact off a shot that seemed destined for the top corner had she not made a tremendous effort to punch it away. Also playing well for the Cats were freshmen Cassidy Todd, McKenzie Hamm, Whitney Moler and Savana Greene.
